Shops and Art Galleries

 

If you love shopping Old Naples has plenty of chic stores, jewelers, and art galleries. Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South are the central points for shopping in the historic downtown area, with numerous art galleries, clothing boutiques, and home decor shops, as well as plenty of stores along the side streets and avenues.

Coconut palms, banyan trees, and tropical flowers line shopping promenades while art galleries and theatres offer a different kind of culture.

There are several fine art galleries in Old Naples. The Gardner Colby Gallery in what is called the Art Block on 3rd Street South, it has been around since 1994 and showcases a large collection of works by contemporary artists who work with painting, sculpture, and glass.

The Shaw Gallery is located on 5th Avenue South. It has been a Naples institution for over 30 years. They feature American and international artists.

 

Botanical garden

 

Besides that, Naples has a 170-acre botanical garden that features tropical and subtropical plants. It is located on Bayshore Drive in Old Naples. Here you can immerse yourself in the wonderful flora of the humid climate.

 

Site-seeing and events

 

A must-visit is the iconic Naples Pier, built in 1888, which is the oldest structure in Naples, Stretching 1,000 feet into the Gulf of Mexico, Naples Pier is known for its stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset.  The city’s oldest home, the historic Palm Cottage was built in 1895 and is situated just down the street.

Stop by the Tin City, a restored fishing village is a local shopping venue on Gordon River.

Another stop is Cambier Park, a community park in the center of Old Naples where free outdoor movies are shown during the year.  The park also has playgrounds, a community building, and a theater auditorium.

There are many art shows and other events that take place year-round, as well as classic and specialty car shows.
